Young Puppy Socialisation and Basic Training
This class is aimed at puppies who are about 12 weeks old at the start of the programme and about 6 months old at the end. Our gentle methods help towards the crucial early socialisation and training of a young puppy.
Our small group classes include a mix of educational, fun and practical training methods with an Instructor who supports and encourages you and your puppy.
The puppy programme also includes the playing of noise CDs and the introduction of common items the puppy is likely to experience to help with socialisation.
This programme covers:-
• Why and how we socialise our puppies
• Meeting and greeting other puppies and dogs with manners
• Understanding how puppies learn
• Building a bond with your puppy
• Handling and health checks
• Car safety and manners
• Walking on the lead
• Leave it/take it • Wait
• Watch
• Sit, stand, down and short stay
• Introducing the recall
• Settle
• Playing with your puppy – how to and how not to
• Children and puppies – including children and puppy training games
• A Certificate of Achievement is awarded on successful completion of this
programme
As young puppies have a very short attention span, each training session will include some handler/puppy play time and some relaxation time during which the Instructor will talk through common puppy behaviours.
Detailed handouts with exercises and training games are provided to practice at home in between sessions. Handouts on how to deal with common puppy behaviours are also available.
On completion of the programme you can join the Junior Puppy classes which will continue your puppy's training during it's adolescent period, which can sometimes be difficult.
