Rally Obedience
Rally Obedience (or Rally O) is a fun new sport that was developed in the United States. Rally O is less formal than traditional competitive obedience. It focuses on building a great partnership between you and your dog and aims to reward a happy working attitude rather than pin-point accuracy in the exercises.
Rally O involves a handler and dog team navigating a path or 'course' which has numbered stopping points or 'stations' positioned along it. At each station there is a sign indicating an exercise to be performed. Exercises can be a simple 'Sit' or 'Down' or 'Stay' or might be a direction change such as 'Right Turn', or maybe a combination of things such as 'Down-Handler Walk Around Dog'. Courses and exercises start at Level 1 (on lead) and you can work your way up to Level 3. At Level 3, things get more complicated and the exercises might include negotiating a single low jump or a tunnel.
Rally O is for everyone - people and dogs of all ages and ability. It is great for those people and dogs who have completed basic training and would like to continue doing something with your dog and making use of all the new skills you have both acquired.
During the summer our rally lessons are running on a Thurday evening at
6.30 pm for one hour at our paddock in Redgrave.
