Events
As well as providing puppy and dog training services, Dog Learning Zone is delighted to offer educational and fun dog events throughout the year to support the continuing learning of dog owners, and perhaps just as importantly to help and support potential owners before they get a dog.
These events are open to all but people who have joined the centre will be offered priority booking.
Examples of the type of events we will be organising:-
- Tellington Touch workshops
- Dog related activity days
- Talks by assistance dog organisations (i.e. dogs for the disabled)
- Talks by canine rescue organisations
- Dancing with Dogs
- Grooming workshops
- Thinking about getting a dog? (For prospective dog owners)
- And many more
Please check this page regularly for forthcoming events.
Group Walks

We regularly meet up for group walks. This helps to build dogs' social skills in a relaxed and informal way. It is a great way for the owners to socialise and make new friends too! In the centre is Sue Hooton and Scampi. For their story go to

All this and more will be covered in our half day workshop on Saturday 14 November 2009 at Shelfanger, near Diss. The workshop will be presented by Julie Cory who is a lecturer at The College of Animal Welfare in Cambridgeshire. We will provide dogs for you to practice bandaging! Return of the Wolves
Due to popular request we returned to the Anglian Wolf Society during September 2009. A group of us attended last year and had a fantastic time - see photos and article below.
Day trip to Crufts 2009

The ultimate experience for every dog lover - we had a day trip to Crufts on Saturday 7 March 2009.
Everyone knows Crufts for the dog show but there is so much more to see and do. If you want to find out about different breeds, the Discover Dogs area has over 200 breed stands. Various disciplines are showcased throughout the day at Crufts including obedience, working trials, gundog work, agility and flyball (pictured).
And then there are the stalls. Hundreds and hundreds of them selling every conceivable doggie item. You can often bag a good bargan too with many stalls offering generous Crufts show discounts on the day.
Walking with Wolves
In September 2008 a group of us were privileged to attend The Anglian Wolf Society in North Bedfordshire. The Society was set up as an education centre and has five wolves who act as ambassadors for the species.
We received a fascinating talk from one of the volunteers about the Society and its work in the UK and abroad. Then, after a detailed health & safety checklist which covered how we should and shouldn't interact with the wolves, we enjoyed a walk with two of the females of the pack. This was an amazing experience. One of the females in particular was very friendly and loved human contact. We could even tickle her tummy! (See picture below).
After the walk the Society volunteers prepared the wolves' meal for the visitors to find ingenious hiding places for the food around the enclosure. This encourages the pack to search for their food. We then got well out of the way while the wolves were let in to feed. You could have heard a pin drop while the visitors watched the wolves feeding, and then afterwards observed the wolves playing, just like our dogs do at home.
It was a wonderful experience and one we shall never forget.
